This is where you can find out more about how I create my paintings.
I'm an expressive landscape artist living in the county of West Sussex, in the U.K. I work in Mixed Media using a variety of materials and tools.
My inspiration for my work comes from the natural world, the wildflowers, woodland and hills of the South Downs. I also enjoy exploring along the coastline and creating paintings in response to being in that particular place.
I feel that my art is therapeutic, it's where I process thoughts, ideas and experiences. I use a visual language to express my emotions and feelings. My work as an expressive landscape artist can be both an internal expression of how I feel and an external response to my surroundings.
Taking photographs and exploring ideas in my sketchbook is an important part of my practice. This forms a starting point which leads to further exploration in my studio where a more intuitive method then starts to develop. This results in a series of paintings that are both evocative and atmospheric. I produce paintings either as a semi-abstract interpretation of the landscape or in a completely abstracted intuitive style.
